Rachel Plog was in the first Disciple Now Weekend that I taught. She was unique from the other girls that were there. She was homeschooled. Her parents took the time to train and teach her themselves and it was evident. Her focus was not on the world. She knew there was more to life than this world's crap. She wrote in her journal:
"Dear God, I know You have a plan for my life. I don't know what it is. I trust that You have it all under control and that You will continue to provide for me and my family and supply all our needs. I want to honor You in all I do. Let my life be used to serve You and bring You glory. May Your will be done in my life. Show me Your ways. Help me to become more and more like Christ every day. Amen."
While in Hong Kong, Rachel physically died during a surgery that normally doesn't take lives. She was 16 years old and a missionary in training. I looked at pictures of Rachel and was saddened that she will miss the things every little girl longs for-- her wedding day, marriage, children. And as she stands complete before the Father, I doubt she is concerned with what she "missed out on".
Thank you Rachel for putting life in perspective!
"His disciples asked Him, "Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he would be born blind? Jesus answered, "It was neither that this man sinned, nor his parents; but it was so that the works of God might be displayed in him." - John 9:2-3
